Homer Analyzer Starting Parameters

The Homer behavior depends on several controlling parameters. Most of them are defined in the Hom.cfg and Tun.cfg configuration text files, which the Homer Server reads as part of its initialization routine after a power-up or a Server restart. The files therefore determine the Homer behavior in autonomous mode (without any external controller that could change the parameters via commands).

To change the Homer power-up behavior, you must modify these cfg files. There are several ways to do this. The best one is to use the currently active files as a template and manually edit the necessary parameters. The copies of these files can be downloaded from the Homer. After editing, the files must be sent back to the Homer and the unit must be restarted. See Transferring Files for instructions on downloading and uploading files.

Another method, which does not involve manual editing, is to create Hom.cfg and Tun.cfg using HomSoft (see Create CFG).

An example Hom.cfg configuration file is listed below. Lines starting with a semicolon are ignored. To create your own cfg file, you can copy the code block below and use it as a template. For Tun.cfg, see Homer Autotuner Starting Parameters. To configure the communication interface, see Configuring Communication. For the meaning of the CAN_ADDR parameter, see MultiCAN: More Homers on CAN Bus.

For a more detailed explanation of the parameters controlling the sampling of the detector voltages and frequency measurement (printed in red in the Notes section below), see topic Signal Waveforms and its subtopics. Some of the parameters (Fsubst_kHz, Fdelta_MHz, LowPowLvl_W) are related to Homer hardware.
